AF&Co.'s most popular list of essential oils (conventional and organic), followed by our most popular concretes and absolutes. A conventional concrete is produced by solvent extraction using hexane; the absolute is displaced from the concrete using ethanol, and the by-product of absolute is a wax.
An essential oil is obtained by steam/hydro distillation of a botanical material (fresh or dried) or by cold expression of the rind of Citrus fruits. In the case of steam/hydro distillation a by-product called a hydrolate is also obtained. It can be used as a floral water or further extracted to obtain a hydrolate absolute.
AF&Co. has developed a certified organic extraction technique, involving neither petroleum nor synthetics of any kind.
